Overall employment of barbers, cosmetologists, and other personal appearance workers is projected to grow much faster than average of all occupations through 2018, but the amount of growth will vary by specialty. For example, job growth for skin care specialists is projected to be faster, through 2018, than it will be for other occupations requiring post-secondary training or an associate degree (The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)

Working in Hair/Spa Salon its a joy and a great way to socialize and have a flexible schedule as a independent contractor. Overall employment of barbers, cosmetologists, and other personal appearance workers is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations. Opportunities for entry-level workers should be favorable, while job candidates at high-end establishments will face keen competition. Most of these workers are employed in personal care service establishments, such as beauty salons, barber shops, nail salons, day and resort spas. Others may be employed in nursing and other residential care homes. Nearly every town has a barbershop or beauty salon, but employment in this occupation is concentrated in the most populous cities and States.

Growing Industry

Faster than average growth is expected; Jobs opportunities for part-time, seasonal and temporary recreation workers will be good, but competition will remain keen for career positions as recreation workers. Many of the cosmetology jobs will be in Spa/Salon, social assistance organizations and in nursing and residential care facilities.

Those with cosmetology license should have the best opportunities to be in tour stem Industry. Job openings will stem from growth and the need to replace the large numbers of workers who leave the occupation each year.

Theatrical and performance makeup artists apply makeup to enhance performing artists’ appearances for movie, television, or stage performances. Some sample of reported job titles: Makeup Artist, Hair and Makeup Designer, Special Effects Makeup Artist, Commercial Makeup Artist, Prosthetic Makeup Designer. They may be self-employed or work directly for a theater, television station, or production company. Theatrical and performance makeup artists will face keen competition. Entry-level workers should expect few opportunities, while those with experience will have more work. Job openings will be greatest in areas with many media production companies like Disney

Creative Artists

Platform Artist qualifications; Evidence of appropriate talent and skill, motivating, creative, passionate, displayed in an artist's portfolio, is an important factor used by art directors, energetic clients, and others in deciding whether to hire an individual or contract for his or her work. A portfolio is a collection of samples of the artist's best work. Assembling a successful portfolio requires skills usually developed through postsecondary training in art or visual communications. Internships also provide excellent opportunities for artists to develop and enhance their portfolios.

Fashion Industry

Being in the forefront of the fashion industry beginning as a Fashion Stylist, hairdresser, and on to conceptual art director. You should worked in developing education programs for the Salon/Hair industry as a platform artist and international educator, eventually creating your own education/ideas development company with manufacturing fashion designers. You also have the opportunity to work with several start-up publications in the role of beauty and fashion editor. Art directors formulate design concepts and presentation approaches for visual communications. Craft artists create or reproduce handmade objects for sale or exhibition. Fine artists, including painters, sculptors, and illustrators, create original artwork, using a variety of media and techniques. Multimedia artists and animators create special effects, animation, or other visual images on film, on video, or with computers or other electronic media that always includes Fashion Designers, graphic designers and Cosmetologist.

Cosmetology Instructors

Cosmetology Instructors are also needed to instruct at schools of cosmetology, training the future hair stylists, nail technicians and skin experts. Cosmetology instructors usually become licensed cosmetologists and then receive additional training in instructing cosmetology programs.

Cosmetology instructors work at cosmetology schools, community colleges and other vocational and technical institutions leading classes in hair styling, manicuring, skin care and salon practices. They must have a strong understanding of all cosmetology-related topics in order to transfer that knowledge onto new students. In addition, cosmetology instructors need to plan curriculum, manage classrooms and evaluate individual students. Most instructors have practical experience in cosmetology as well as some training in educational instruction. Aspiring cosmetology instructors should first complete a cosmetology training program to gain a firm understanding in all aspects of the field. Programs are offered by specialized schools, as well as community colleges and technical schools, usually awarding a certificate of completion. The duration of these programs varies; however, many can be completed in less than a year, these programs provide the skills necessary to become a licensed/certified cosmetology instructor.
